I’m posting this a comment because I don’t know how to get this as an item in it’s own right. Please move it if that is possible.

Perhaps you would like to know about a campaign to save a much needed Accident and Emergency department in South East London.

Lewisham hospital A&E has just had a £12 million refit.

The closure is part of a plan proposed by a ‘special administrator’. This person was appointed to deal with the bankruptcy of a neighbouring health trust.

The University Lewisham Hospital, admits over 300 patients daily and had 4,000 babies delivered last year (2011),

If carried through the closure will leave 750,000 people in south east London with one A&E, and one which has implications for everyone who relies on and values the NHS.

A campaign has started see Save Lewisham A&E website.

There will be a large demonsration by local people this Saturday.
